MIGRANT charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER after stabbing another migrant at a former student accommodation in DERBY
Alfid Kalid, 24, was due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court today
Officers were called at 10.50am on Tuesday morning to reports that a man had been stabbed at a migrant hostel in Laverstoke Court, off Peet Street
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition tonight
Alfid Kalid, of Peet Street, Derby, has today (September 28) been charged with attempted murder
The 24-year-old has been remanded in police custody and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court
Temporary Detective Inspector Eleanor Develin reiterated that this is being treated as an isolated incident

In media interviews on Wednesday, the home secretary, Suella Braverman, said “various procedures” needed to be completed before people could return to the Bibby Stockholm but that government had done “really well” with its work on the barge
The Home Office said: “We are pleased to confirm that the latest tests have shown that there are no health risks from legionella on the Bibby Stockholm, with individuals set to return to the barge in due course
