We all know the usual rendering of the name 'Woden' or 'Wotan', but this is also related to another root-sound that gives another meaning. This is found in the Sanskrit va 'to move about', the Old Norse vada and Latin vado 'to go quickly', 'to stream forth', all suggesting 'All-Pervasive' or 'All-Penetrating'. Hence the use of the name 'All-Father' for the 'Great Spirit' or 'Universal Pervasive Force', and hence the link to our own Racial God - Woden. There is also an Aryan Root wad-* which means 'to bind', also relevant to the role of Woden.
