China and Brazil have reached a deal to conduct trade and financial transactions directly in their own countries' currencies, exchanging yuan for reais vice versa, rather than using US dollar.

Brazilian government representative said “The expectation is that this will reduce costs ... [and] promote even greater bilateral trade and facilitate investment.”

The trade volume between the two countries in 2022 reached $150.5bn.

IMF chief urged institutions for vigilance as risks to global financial stability have increased.

She warned of the world possibly splitting into rival economic blocs as a result of geo-economic fragmentation.

This would result in “a dangerous division that would leave everyone poorer and less secure.”

Finally, she urged Chinese policymakers to work to raise productivity and rebalance the economy away from investment and towards more durable consumption-driven growth.

This could not only "offer hope" for the world economy, but also help Beijing reach its climate goals.

V Ventures, the investor set out to rescue the troubled exchange Vipmex, failed to transfer $1.25m for March, as was agreed in the investment contract.
